Sele-ing his fate
Maybe I watch too much "Survivor," but I’m ready to vote Aaron Sele off the island.
I know it’s too early for anyone to be officially eliminated from this rotation race we’ve got going on, but with nine candidates vying for three spots on our staff, the 36-year-old has put himself at the end of the line with such a lousy start.
Sele’s ERA for the spring is 11.25 after two poor outings. Not good.
Is there time to rebound? Maybe.
But with just three or four spring outings left, now he'd better pitch lights out the rest of the way.
And I don’t think he capable of that.
John Maine and Oliver Perez haven’t lost the advantage they came to camp with and Mike Pelfrey, Chan Ho Park and Alay Soler have put themselves in position to grab that final spot with good starts.
Don’t forget Jorge Sosa, Jason Vargas and Philip Humber are still lurking. Each has out-performed Aaron as well.

Translate "Jose Lima" into English, and the translation is "Aaron Sele." It didn't take long for Sele to sour on you, huh?

EC... Yeps, I was a bit off on that one lol. Based on the big first-half pitcher Sele's been of late, I thought he'd slip under the radar, have a big camp and possibly land a spot if a kid faultered. Little did I know he'd be the first one essentially eliminated from the fray!

Eddie,
Ed Rogers was one of our non roster invitees.Figures that he is the one to hit a walkoff and win the game for us!Yeah I am thinking I want Chan HO park to get the final spotmore than SELE and I dont want Chan HO to get it at all:)

Eddie,
Just wanted to say that this is always the first blog I go to for my MLB fix, so keep up the good work. I'm English and live in London but picked up a flavour for MLB when I first visited NYC in 1992. I chose the mets as my team to be different. I didn't choose the yankees because that's like being a Manchester United football fan (glory hunters). Anyway, just a quick line to say that I find your comment and analysis of the mets superior to any other source I read. I like your fans view rather than the watered down cr*p I read elsewhere. Hey, my knowledge of the game and the players is no where near you guys over there but it's getting better thanks to this blog.
