Endy a hit in winter ball

When we last saw him, he was slamming into the leftfield Endynew fence at Shea Stadium to haul in a would-be two-run jack off the bat of Scott Rolen in Game Seven of the NLCS.
Now Endy Chavez is putting on a show in the Venezuelan Winter League playoffs.
The best fourth outfielder in the NL currently has a .380 batting average and a .560 slugging percentage.
Can't wait to hear the ovation for this guy on Opening Day.

Good for Endy. I root for him. With an old (but very, very good) left fielder, a somewhat injury-prone center fielder, and an average right fielder, it's good that the Mets have lots of insurance - Endy, Ben Johnson, Lastings Milledge. I don't expect Endy to repeat his 2006, but if he does or he comes close, so much the better.

Good for endy.I love watching him play.I want to see shawn green play more thoug

sorry for the double posting my computer is acting up

EC... if there's one thing the mets have (aside from an array of hard-throwing candidates for the back end of the rotation) it's outfield depth. My pre-season prediction is that either injury or an extended slump will open the door for Ben Johnson or Lastings Milledge to win an everyday job at one of the corners. Those kids overwhelmed minor league pitching and I bet one is about to break out in the bigs. That's not even mentioning Chavez... who may be the best fourth outfielder in the NL.

Kaylee... Shawn's going to have to play well to fend off the young outfielders behind him on the depth chart. If he can play like he did in 2005 (.355 OBP, 22 HR, 73 RBI) he's going to make this lineup insanely deep. If he continues to decline, he could find himself in a platoon or on the bench. Either way, he's going to have his moments and help this team.
